Bainbridge, GA (August 21, 2004)
It was good to be back and to see both old and new friends! Dairy Queen from Bainbridge, GA sponsored the Summertime in the Park show. We want to extend our thanks to Gary Phillips for once again supporting us. Unfortunately, Gary was unable to attend Saturday to help us pass out the trophies due to his mom being very ill. We all will keep both him and his mom in our prayers.
Bainbridge Park has got to be the one of the best set-ups for a car and truck show. The nice breeze, water view, shaded trees, great hospitality from Amanda Coaker and the Chamber of Commerce, wonderful sponsorship from Dairy Queen, steady stream of spectators, and a strong showing of 67 participating vehicles made for a super way to spend a Saturday. We had great vendors this year for food and drink, and was treated with our newest auto vendor "5 Minutes to Fame" Joel Aiello. His company will be returning to our show in Moultrie, so if you missed him Saturday, you can catch him there. He does an incredible job with his magazine covers and your vehicle. We think it should be added to everyone's collection for their classic.
I think everyone will agree that the one thing consistent about this show is that for the three years we have been at the park, come time for the trophies, we all get rained out. We tried to hurry before we got wet, so for all you newcomers, I assure you this is NOT the usual and customary mode of running things. Because of the rush to hand trophies out, there was a bit of confusion, so along with the list of winners, I am printing out the vehicles that scored 295 points or better. I think this is a good idea, anyway, because it will let you know how well you stood in the overall group, not just your class. As we have mentioned before, we are always happy to e-mail you the things that the judges deducted from your vehicles. We want to especially thank Sammy and Marsha Allen for their support and patience. Their rare 1972 Chevy Camaro Z28 won the first place trophy winner in the stock Camaro (67-78)division. Please check the picture of his car, and others such as Jan Rogers beautiful 1977 pontiac Trans Am and Carolyn and James Phillips incredible 1957 Studebaker Truck.
Confetti's wants to acknowledge all the newcomers to the
show, and hope they continue to visit the sponsors that support us. We welcome
Mr. Fleming from Bainbridge, who brought his 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner, and Bryan
and Sheila Blankenship from Port St. Joe, who brought their 1967 Plymouth Barracuda.
Mr. Haywood from Colquitt, GA entered two vehicles: a nice 1966 Shelby Mustang,
and a 1966 Ford Fairlane. Gary and Daphney Hinz from Panama City showed off their
1949 Chevy Pick-up, Terry Dyson from Dothan, AL with his 1968 Super Sport, and
Douglas Griffin and his beautiful 1931 Model A. Please check out the pics of Mike
Riley from Jacksonville, FL and his 1950 leadsled 2 door Merc. Ronald Brown, from
Bonifay Fl and Frankie Mc Carty From Opp. AL displayed their T-Buckets in style!
Tony Howell and his wife traveled from Tifton, GA to show their '96 Impala SS
for the very first time (and won a first place trophy!) But best of all, was little
Miss Addison Elkins with her mini 1932 Ford Roadster. Dad, Jamie Elkins, is a
strong supporter of the classics and Confetti's, and he believes in keeping the
tradition going. Welcome and thanks once again. See you all in October at both
Moultrie and Donalsonville. Remember to pre-register online with no financial
