Bainbridge, GA (December 4, 2004)
Happy Holidays to all of you! Our banquet once
again was held at the Golden Corral in Bainbridge, Georgia, and as
usual the food and company were great. With each year, Confetti's
tries to outdo ourselves from the year before. This year was no exception.
The guests of honor were treated with beautiful plaques celebrating
their titles of "Streetrodder." First place went to the tremendous
duo, James and Alice Parks. Second
place winners were Bobby and Darla Gilmer,
third place went to David Duke, and the fourth place
honor went to Mike Fuches. We cannot survive without
all of your support, so thank you all from the bottom our hearts.
We also started up a new plaque that honors not only our current winner,
but all of our past winners. Glenn Sutphin was our
past year's winner, and Ron Tyler was the original
Streetrodder of the Year winner. Ron could not make it Saturday night,
but Glenn and his lovely wife attended our celebration. We will be
taking this plaque to all the shows, so you can see it in person at
our next event.
We wouldn't be Confetti's if we didn't have some
lighthearted fun with our friends. A few of our guests were "roasted"
with some good humored presents. Rich "Jiggy-Fly" Coleman
was surprised with a FLY neon Disco hat, and Elvis (Ken Blankenship)
received our rendition of the giveaway scarf. After we had a good
laugh, all of our guests were eligible for the many giveaway gifts
that we had available in our random drawings. First place was $100.00,
two second place $50.00 gifts, and 11 $20.00 presents. Alice
Parks won the $100.00, Nancy Dahl won the
first $50.00, and Robbie Weaver won the second $50.00.
We also handed out many other small gifts to our guests. Also we were
honored to have BOTH our children home for the weekend from the military.
Mike Cornelius was able to sneak away from his Army
82nd Airborne Training at Ft. Benning, GA, and Dorothy Shipe
was visiting on leave for the first time in eighteen months right
from her Air Force tour of duty in the desert. All in all it was a
wonderful evening. Bob and I want to give an extra special thank you
to our great staff. Our judges: Rich Hinkle, the
"Duke" Earl Williams, and Chris Dahl,
also Diane Hinkle, my right hand lady, and Robbie
Weaver, our staff sweetheart. A special thanks goes out to
Clayton Weaver for all his volunteering and loyal
support. We also want to thank manager Ricky for
his kind hospitality at the Golden Corral. He invited us back again
for next year. After the banquet, all of us that could did an impromptu
cruise to the Saturday night Bainbridge Cruisers Cruise-in at Dairy
Queen. We will be looking forward to seeing all of your familiar faces
next year, and hope to meet many new friends in the coming year as
well. May this 2004 holiday season bring you joy and peace. Please
say a special prayer for all of our troops and may God bless all of
you!
