WILLIAM'S HISTORY
This is a true story of a local man born, raised, and still resides in Cordele Georgia. He is employed by CarQuest Auto Parts in Cordele. His name is William G. Cross Jr., to people who know him call him JR and is also a Vietnam Veteran.
The year is 1967, and William just graduated from high school in Cordele. He worked locally and was drafted in the Army in 1969 where he underwent training in Fort Knox Kentucky. In 1970 William was sent to South Vietnam where he fought from the southern tip to the border of North Vietnam. He was assigned to the 11th Armored Calvary, Black Horse Division.
At the end of 1970 to early 1971 William received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in battle to his back, legs and neck from mortar shells and hand grenades. In 1971 just before Christmas, William was honorably discharged a Sergeant E-5.
William is a patriot, and loves his country where if he could, he would be in Iraq defending his country today. We would like to dedicate this Car and Truck Show to William and to all the Veterans that have sacrificed to keep the United States a proud, free and safe place to live and raise our children.
