Donalsonville, GA (October 16, 2004)
Confetti's was honored to celebrate our third year with Donalsonville at their town's Harvest Day Festival and parade on Saturday, October 16th, 2004. You could not have ordered a more perfect day for nice weather and sunshine. Brenda Broome and her staff at the Chamber of Commerce always accommodates Confetti's to allow us to enjoy the town's hospitality. Radio Shack and the Tea Olive store were most generous to our staff. Thanks so much!
The parade, as always, starts off the harvest festival with sirens of the fire engines. Alisa Ward, with her 1953 F-500 firetruck and passenger Leann Alday, helped with the candy-tossing, and along with some of the other classic vehicles that entered our show participated in the parade festivities. There was plenty of food, arts and crafts, live entertainment, shops and activities to keep all ages busy all day.
This car show in Donalsonville always brings out the spectators,
and Saturday was no exception. Everyone had a personal favorite from the almost
80 cars, trucks and motorcycles that attended the show. There was a strong showing
of Camaros, plus a nice variety of new vehicles, such as Douglas Schwab's Volkswagen
Golf III and Noma and Larry Bush's Starsky and Hutch's 1976 Ford Grand Torino.
Incredible paint jobs on some of the vehicles were really impressive. David Antley's
Harley and Jim Shepard's 1951 Merc caught many spectator's eyes. We welcomed the
Muellers, who displayed their 1930 REO Coupe coming all the way from Ohio. Mrs.
Mueller was the Confetti's recipient of our "Hot Wheels" award. Enthusiastic Jeremy
Shelly won our "Best Kid" award, and pretty little Miss Olivia Spooner was crowned
"Miss Confetti". We were really happy to see both David Duke and Bud Clements
at our show. Both have been under the weather lately. The kids really enjoyed
to glow-in-the-dark necklaces that Confetti's passed out all day, and the car
show folks loved the new dash plaques. "Dad" Chambless shared with us that he
is planning on passing the torch to Shawn in his interest of building and showing
classic cars. We think that this is what it is all about. We are looking forward
to more "family" projects to be shown in future car shows. If you haven't been
to Donalsonville yet, plan on visiting soon, or come to the Harvest Festival next
year and bring your classic vehicles and your family for a really fun day.
