Fourth Annual Harvest Festival Car and Truck Show

Donalsonville, GA (October 15, 2005)

If you were not outside on this Saturday, you missed some glorious weather! It was an incredible day for a festival. The cars and trucks showed up in force, and we had one of the best shows so far this fall. We loved the parade, and this day was no exception. Our Confetti crew Leann manned Alica Ward's firetruck and Crystal joined Confetti Bob in the new "Confetti Bob Buggy." We stocked up on loads of candy and Mardi Gras beads to throw out to the crowds, and they loved it! As usual, Harvest Festival also had live entertainment all day long, arts, crafts, and incredible food. The BBQ ribs were a big hit with the guys. The Confetti Bob Buggy transported the participants back and forth to the restrooms, food and the entertainment all day long. We have been asked to return for the 5th time next year, so please mark your calendars for the third weekend in October so you can enjoy a terrific car show with all the fun attached to it.
We had the pleasure of being Colt Smith's first car show ever. His cousin Shawn Chambless talked him into bringing his 1983 C-10 pickup truck, and the both of them pulled off first place in their divisions. Shawn brought his 2004 PT Cruiser. Great going guys! It was a tearful but sentimental moment when Larry and Cil Stevens won their "Best of Class" trophy. Cil confided that is the 6th anniversary of their son's death, and the trophy was a special honor for their boy. His memorial is honored all around their 1991 Mustang. Larry and Cil, you know you are special to us, too. Our thoughts are always with you. We were thrilled to see Roy and June Campbell with their 2002 Monte Carlo. It was their first car show of the year, due to June's poor health. Keep her on your prayer lists, folks. She had 4 heart attacks this year, and recently diagnosed with diabetes. We were honored that she was strong enough to join us. Tim, our "too tall" judge was on hand but in crutches because of recent knee surgery. He just couldn't stay away! He manned the mike and helped with the shuttling with the Bob Buggy. Thanks, Tim, for your loyalty. We missed our "Sandman" today. He was a bit under the weather, so along with Confetti's, all of the guys and gals signed a get well card. That is what we love so much about this business. Everyone becomes extended family. We appreciate and thank all of you for your continued support of the love of vehicles. You make our job fun!
The Redneck Cruisers were in force this year with 12 vehicles, and won the $50.00 for club participation. We love seeing all of you -- you have a phenomenal group of cars that are showroom classics. Of course, your very own LUCKY Jan Rogers won the 50/50 with a take home pot of $215.00. That girl needs to play the lottery! We purchased 5 bags of peanuts from the Golden Peanut Company, and they too were given away. Jan ALSO won a bag of them! Go girl! Our special GAS HOG Award and $10.00 went out to Donald Frank, from Greenwood, Florida and his 1929 Ford AA, and David Roberts, from Crawfordville, Florida and his 1955 Chevy Bel-air 2 door hardtop. We gave out three Pumpkin Baby awards, and Shelby Jackson, Kaitlyn Jackson and Macey Mobley won their little trophies. Our Miss Confetti award went out to 12 year old Miss Kristira Shelly, and the Best Kid Award went to brother 8 year old Jeremy Shelly, both from Alabama. Our special end of the day trophy went to Laura Rudd. Her husband brought her to show her where he has been going every weekend. This was her first car show also. By the end of our show, she was talking about an available classic Corvette that she would look good in! Another classic car convert!
Our "Streetrodder of the Year" winners are always announced at the Donalsonville show. They will be properly honored at our banquet at the Golden Corral this December 5th at 5:30pm. We hope to see all of you there to celebrate. The winners are:
Honorary Mention: Clayton Weaver
                       David Duke
3rd Place: Parks Weaver
                       Rich Coleman
2nd Place: Bill Dismuke
1st Place: Darla Gilmer
                       Bobby Gilmer
We are having an incredible response to the Veteran's Day show on November 12th. Please mark your calanders to pay respect to all of our Veterans. Please remember to add the branch of service on the preregistrations. We place your choice on the tops of the trophies. Our sponsors are providing both dash plaques AND T-shirts to the first 50 entries. Register early online to secure them. It is a drive well worth going to. Our support for our troops both homeland and overseas MUST be recognized, and our veterans deserve their day. See you there!
