First Annual Marianna Arts Festival Car and Truck Show

Marianna, FL (April 8, 2006)

OK!   To everyone that had a car show on this day, let's sing together "Rain Rain go away!", and to all that stayed home safe in their homes, we say thank you. As you all know, when you run a business like ours, the show must go on. We accept that, and not every day is a sunny one. With threats of hail, tornadoes, high winds, and damaging rains, we were grateful that most of you decided to stay put. We were also grateful for the crazy ones that braved the elements to show up. Marianna was a gracious host, and we had a ball. The food was incredible with dozens of choices of BBQ contest cook-off vendors, fresh lemonade, funnel cakes, and so much more. There was quite a selection of beautiful art and crafts and a huge selection of things to do with the kids. We were honored to get asked back for next year, because it really was well organized. The shows that were put on had a large variety, from country and gospel to our wonderful Elvis and his rock and roll. The children from various dance troupes were so sweet! The crowd that was there enjoyed it all. We want to thank all our friends that showed up, even though they didn't bring their vehicles. Bobby and Darla Gilmer, Glenn and June Smith and many others stopped by to say hello. That meant so much to us! You really are dear to our hearts. We think if the weather was good, you all would have had a marvelous time. Due to the threatening rains, Earl, Tim and Chris did a fast judging as Leann and I scrambled with the scores to get them done and tallied. We handed the trophies out as quickly as we could while we were under our tent as the rain poured down. Once again Cristy and Misty were on hand to give out the trophies, and our new Confetti photographer Stacey Farris helped take incredible pictures of the show. Preston McKinney of DeFuniak Springs was our Best Kid, and Grace Daffin from Marianna was our Little Miss Confetti. We look forward to seeing you at our next show in Thomasville, GA for the Fourth Annual Festival Of Roses Car and Truck Show on Saturday, April 29, 2006, from 9AM to 4 PM. If you attended last year, you know that there were 165 beautiful vehicles on display. The Thomasville Police Department have gone all out for you, so show your support by attending.
On a personal note, our son Michael is stationed in Baghdad working the 710th Infantry in the Army, and he wanted to tell all of you that he says Hi and misses doing the car shows. We will have a few pictures of Michael and Dorothy (who is stationed in the desert at AE in the Air Force-second tour of duty) for all of you to see. Keep them in your prayers. See you in Thomasville!
