Thomasville, GA (April 28, 2007)
There is a rumor that said it has never rained on the Thomasville parade, and on this day it was no different. The weather was perfect, so the vehicles came early, and came in force. After all said, there were 156 cars, trucks, hotrods, and motorcycles that helped make Thomasville's fifth Anniversary doing car shows with us a roaring success. Chief Ellis and his attending police staff donned their neat blue polo shirts and worked the crowd all day. As they have done in the past, they handed out honorary police badges and police whistles donated by Confetti's. Confetti's honored Chief Ellis a special Fifth Anniversary Plaque as a special thank you to him for all his efforts these past years. Hopefully we will honor him by trying to outdo ourselves with each year to come. Officer Rick was his right hand man, and CNS Television was kind enough to donate the T-shirts this year. The City of Thomasville always makes us and our participants feel like Royalty. Without their support and never-ending hard work to put on a week long Rose Festival and embracing us as their finale, we wouldn't have such a great turnout. Thank you all for a terrific day.
If you were a lover of Corvettes, Chevelles, Camaros, and Mustangs, you would have been in Heaven. There was an incredible showing of these particular vehicles, and they all were displayed proudly by their owners. First-timer to Confetti's shows Priscilla Robertson from Richland, GA walked away with Best Overall New with her 2006 Mustang. Kenny and Betty White entered their first car show ever with their 1972 Chevy Chevelle SS. The Cruisin' Corvettes have an amazing comradery with each other, always cheering each other as they won their trophies. They also had competition with the South Georgia Corvette Club with a beautiful showing of their older classics downtown. Thomasville Toyota got in the spirit of the moment and entered four of their 2007 Toyota Tundras for all to look at. There was enough variety of cars and trucks to please the grandfolks and their walk down on Memory Lane to the youngest drivers and their wish lists. The music from our infamous DJ and all around good guy Confetti Bob kept us jamming, rocking and a rolling throughout the day, along with a live band mid afternoon.
The Gas Hog awards and $10 each were won by Richard Coleman and Frank Cannon. This year's 50/50 generated $240 to one happy winner. Chris Danielle won our Best Kid award, and our little Miss Confetti winner Alexa Hernandez from Thomasville, GA won because of her special interest in getting with the spirit of the event. She brought he bike, and spent all day polishing every single part of the bike, from the chrome to the seat and wheels. Dad brought he up well!!! Our VERY special Confetti girl Keri and our long time judges (and good friends) Earl, Chris and Tim worked tirelessly all day to score all 156 vehicles that participated and help with all the other parts to make you car show event come off smoothly. Keri was tremendous, helping with entries, score sheets, 50/50, handing out trophies and giving the little ones honorary Police hats from Confetti's. We know how hard you all work, so we give thanks so much from Confetti Bob and Catie to you! We hope you enjoy the plaques this year. We figured your bookshelves are getting pretty full and can now start on the wall space. Although more costly, we have a lot of fun with the designs. We will be giving our specialty plaques at our next show in three weeks at the Wallace Chevrolet's Fifth Annual Car and Truck Show honoring Armed Forces Day on Saturday, May 19th. Looking forward to seeing all of you there. Thanks to all our participants and visitors to our car show and hope you come again!
