University Chevrolet
Fourth Annual Charity Car and Truck Show

Tallahassee, FL (May 21, 2005)

With threatening rain clouds left over from the night before, we were not sure if it was going to be the order of the day, but it turned out wonderful. We ended up with a splendid day with an awesome show of 96 vehicles that braved the possible storms to participate in University's Fourth Annual charity event. Mike Futral, University's general manager, was on hand all day admiring all who showed off their beautiful cars, trucks and bikes. The Shriner’s Hospital was the recipient of all the funds raised today from all who entered the show and the additional donated money from the proceeds of the extra T-shirts. Thank you everyone, for helping out. Tom Link, representing not only the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America), but also the Shrine Organization, was on hand to thank everyone who helped. The radio station 99.9 Oldies set up their tent with not only great music, but free breakfast goodies, such as fruit, doughnuts and juices, and free pizza for lunch. Speaking from the heart, Confetti’s has that station locked on in all our cars, and 99.9 participated in our grand opening car cruise back in 2000 when Confetti’s opened its doors 5 years ago. The AACA had their tent set up for their membership drive and sponsored a raffle for two model cars. Also participating for their fourth year was the Lion’s Club, serving up some great food and drinks, along with selling brooms and mops for their philanthropic funds. The Lion’s Club holds their meetings Thursdays at 12:05 at the Capital City Country Club. Thank you all for your hard work for such good causes. You truly are appreciated.

The free T-shirts that were provided by University were a big hit. We think the Cruisin’Corvettes liked it better than the Panhandle Ponies, though, being that it had a bright red Corvette on it! At this show, the Corvettes and the Mustangs ruled the day. From the 2005 down to the early 60’s, the variety was apparent. The Panhandle Ponies were the winners of the Club Participation Award with 11 cars entered, and along with the trophy, Confetti’s awarded a $100 to their Club. Maycee Mobley was our reluctant Miss Confetti (Grandma Lisa said she was overdue her nap), and handsome Tristin Ingram was our Best Kid. We were impressed with the show of patriotism from our participants. As all of you that attend our shows know we honor the flag first, then have a moment of silence for all of our troops. You can always tell whom the veterans are when you look around. It always humbles us to see Americans honor our country, such as Rueben Plauchy and Tom Link. We honor all who served or are serving our country on our patriot page, and we will be including Staff Sgt. Leslie E. Middlebrook. Her folks brought their car, and were sharing the story of their daughter who has already served two tours of duty in Iraq, and has been in the Army for over 10 years. We will be happy to include anyone else from our extended family on our patriot page, including any veteran that need to be thanked for a job well done.

Mike, thank you once again for a great show. We were asked back again for next year for their Fifth Annual Show, so we will keep you posted on the date on our web page. Don't forget it costs nothing to pre-register online. In a couple weeks, Saturday, June 11th, we will be at Thomasville Motors in Thomasville, GA from 9 am to 4 PM. We always have a good time there, so we hope you can make it.
