Albany, GA (May 6, 2006)
This was our fourth car show with Wallace Chevrolet in Albany, GA and it was the finest one yet. We had the most incredible display of 56 top notch vehicles ever. The weather was fantastic, considering the night before was extremely threatening. The Albany Civitan Club was invited this year to serve our participants and bystanders with chili dogs, hamburgers and drinks. All their money collected goes to the disabled children and adults in the local area. A big thank to Hayley Williams, Bruce Miller, Gloria Williams, Kim Cone, Grant Williams and Janice Williams for volunteering their whole day to us for such a good cause. Buddy was a gracious host as always, and seemed to have a productive day with all the outside traffic. Wallace Chevrolet was kind enough to donate two Chevy Clocks at the end of the day to all ticket holders. Thanks, Buddy!
Andrea Ford from Clear Channel KISS FM was present along with the local Albany television news to broadcast our show, and they all were so impressed with the quality cars and trucks that were on display. Buddy even mentioned he was glad he was not a judge because they all showed so well. We also received a beautiful donation for this fall's Cordele show from Kenny Jones. His Model A designer clocks were on display, and he generously offered to have one available for a raffle. They are originally sold for $150.00, so it is an incredible raffle. We are looking forward to that!
Along with our traditional anthem, we offered a moment of silence for Billy Whiddon, who recently passed. He will be missed by all. We also got the opportunity to meet Glenn Rudd Jr, home for the summer from college. Our gas hog awards went to Robert PArmer and Al Melvin. John Rice, 11, was our Best Kid Award recipient, and sweet Dot Jessie was our honorary Ms. Confetti. Bob Jessie kidded Dot by declaring if she was queen for the day, then he must be the "King"! We are looking forward to seeing you all at the Florida Fairgrounds on Memorial weekend, Saturday, May 27th for the Fifth Annual University Car and Truck Show. Remember bikes are welcome. University is giving free t-shirts and dash plaques out, and we are offering $100.00 to the largest club participation. All proceeds on this show go to the Shriners. See you there!
